Observer II
Keep hearing TV debate on "Windrush", which is yet another compensation claim for past injustice. However, some of the language and assertions by the progressives; appears to be a total distortion of the "contribution" made to Britain by this minority. First, the idea that they came over to the UK, "to save Britain" after WW2, when in reality, they were fleeing unemployment and poverty in the W/Indies. The idea that their presence as bus drivers or nurses was some kind of salvation for the UK, when their numbers would have been miniscule, they worked, just like everybody else, nothing less nothing more. Observer II
The woke Governments in Canada, New Zealand and Australia, are going out of their way to accommodate their first nation indigenous peoples, which sounds like a good idea, if the UK Gov were to adopt the same approach. 😉
Evil Sid
1 hour ago, Observer II said: if the UK Gov were to adopt the same approach. given that we have been invaded by or invaded just about every nation there is no such animal as an indigenous brit. typical brit yes but indigenous no. with the growth of dna searches to find your ancestors the chances of finding one that has gone though the gene pool without any intermixing of the stock is miniscule....🕵️♂️
Observer II
Think you ned to revisit your history Sid - if we dismiss the Homo Erectus and Neanderthals, the First humans in Britain would have been Cromagnons, early hunter gatherers. The first settled group would have been farmers from around the Ukraine Region, who gave rise to the Brithonic or Celtic culture, in other words British as known to the Romans, but Welsh by our terms. They of course were pushed to the western fringes, following the Anglo-Saxon invasion, after the Roman occupation. Then there was the Viking invasion, followed by the Norman invasion. No doubt all can be said to have influenced the gene pool as well as the culture, but the overwhelming stock is Brithonic in the north and western extremities, whilst being Anglo-Saxon in England - white Germanic in other words. So can safely be called the FIRST Nations of Britain - white, English speaking. The fact that they existed as warring tribes, is no different to the first peoples of N/America, Australia or New Zealand, and based on todays woke ideas, should be accorded precedence, especially given they account, even now, but maybe not for much longer, for over 80% of the population.
