observer
In a new piece of desperation, the PM is now claiming the EU has kept the peace in Europe. Alas the peace within Europe has been provided by a collective interest in being within NATO, even though most EU countries are prepared to rely on the US and aren't prepared to fund their share of defence expenditure. Far from providing "peace", the expansion of the EU into the Ukraine, has actually heightened tensions with our potential enemy Russia, who are clearly paranoid about encroachment into their sphere of influence. So the EU is actually a potential catalyst for war if anything.

asperity
Well call me Dave wants to remain and is raising the spectre of war in Europe if we leave; http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/05/08/cameron-brexit-will-increase-risk-of-europe-descending-into-war/

Davy51
Surely if the peace has been kept by the formation of the EU then why is it that the defeated antagonists of the second world war, Germany & Japan ,both came out of the conflict with brilliant economies. The Fourth Reich has achieved by peaceful means what its brutal predecessors wasted millions of lives on from all sides. There must have been a reason to restrict the forces of those countries so hostilities would not flare again. As a result a peaceful transition has occurred but to give credit to the existence of the EU is probably the rantings of a man ,desperate to end up with a ticket for the gravy train.
observer
Not scaremongering on the part of the Leave Campaign, just solid facts: On the EU's watch - a total balls up of the Balkan civil war, with NATO having to take over. Proposed expansion into and inclusion of Ukraine; thus winding up the Russians; unless the TV News made it all up, of course !

observer
Seems you've run out of facts then ?! Not surprising really, as the Leave campaign has clearly won already on the basis of the argument, but alas the vote may take a different course. Davy51
Talking about the EU keeping the peace in Europe ,it didn't do a lot to help to stop the atrocities committed on all sides in the Irish conflict. We are now in a position where security against Irish paramilitaries has had to be stepped up against a background of increased threats to the mainland. observer
They were originally tasked with sorting out the Yugoslav civil war; but NATO had to step in when they failed. So basically, a record of incompetence for the EU. The latest example of course is allowing over a million ILLEGAL migrants to enter Europe, without any plan to deal with them.
