Of course, cos we've not been training and recruiting indigenous staff, and neither have we been retaining existing staff, many of whom are emigrating with their skills for a less stressfull career in Australia, Canada etc; leaving us to poach skilled labour from less fortunate countries. btw Don't try and portray immigrant labour as somehow acting out of altruism; the simple reality is, they come here for relatively more money and "a better life"; even those from the EU, like Bulgarian Doctors can earn eight times as much from the NHS. But don't let the reality cloud your bleeding heart wishfull thinking.

How dare they seek out a better life here in the UK.  Coming here with their skills, skills which Britain desperately needs, making our sick people better, delivering our British babies, caring for our elderly, driving our ambulances etc. etc, etc.  and expecting to be paid for it, the audacity.  Then all our indigenous staff, off to forrin parts for a better job and conditions than the British NHS offers them leaving the pesky immigrants to shore up the NHS.  Tell me Observer, approximately how much do you owe the country for all your free training during your stint as a fireman?

Which one Asp? Keeping the immigrants out or keeping emigrants in ? !   If you want insane, listen to the lunatics who want to allow everyone and his dog into the UK, all requiring housing and public services, which are already in short supply due to (in case you haven't noticed) a period of austerity.

So, re your original post, absolutely bugger all to do with your concern for Third world countries.  under the government's points system for non-EU migrants ( third world), workers would not gain entry unless there was a vacant post they were needed to fill.  Also, your last post has all the hallmarks of the rantings of a lunatic.

Well, it is concern, that if we poach everyone else's skilled labour, they are then left with less skilled labour, thus creating situations where through lack of qualified surgeons, even a simple appendicitis can prove fatal in the third world. Still, I guess your answer would be to bring them here for the operation, courtesy of the International Health Service?!  Nice to learn that the Government are operating a points system (obviously not applicable to EU or illegals), but if it's actually being implemented, a start at least. But if we aren't training our own staff, we will remain dependent on foreign recruits, even with a points system. As for the rantings of a lunatic, thought that about your ideas of immigration a long time ago.

If you agreed with my ideas I would be terrified and a bit ashamed.  Look, you bemoan the amount of people leaving the country, then you bemoan the amount replacing them then you bemoan the lack of houses.  Now , unless the people coming in have worked out a way to live in 2 houses at once, surely its obvious, even to you...........

Errm, nope. There aren't enough houses in the first place, and the pitifull ideas coming out from the parties to cure it - just won't. The idea that we can remain a home owning democracy, when the majority of folk simply can't afford to buy a home, defies reality. We need affordable housing for rent (used to be called Council housing); and we need lots of it, fast. This will reduce overall housing demand thus knocking on to price reductions generally in the property market.  Now, the numbers coming in annually, exceed the numbers going out by around 250,000, a figure that's remained (despite the Tory promised reduction to 100,000) fairly constant for at least a decade. Thus we require around 2million more houses than we would if the net migration figure had been held at a  zero. This increase in population, knocks on to an increase in demand, not just for housing, but for school places, NHS and other services etc.  Those services are being cut, in the name of austerity, and the requirement to reduce the deficit - so we're between a rock and a hard place. We either have to increase supply (of services etc) to supply population increase, in which case the question is, where or from whom does the money come from OR we can reduce demand by controlling population levels (by a limit on immigration). The problem that has brought the issue to the fore, is the unprecedented surge over a relatively short time frame, that is simply overwhelming service providers and was never envisaged by service planners. Labour has since admitted "they got it wrong", when they believed the relaxation to allow entry to Poles, would only mean around 15,000 entrants, a figure now exceeded many times over and including more accession countries.

Back to this "bonkers" idea of charging students for their education, if they emigrate: thought those well known "Stalinists", Comrades Cleg and Cameron had actually introduced a system for students to pay for their education; but their system applies to ALL graduates, whether they leave the country or not - think they call it "student loans", and it didn't seem to raise many eyebrows on here when introduced.

But you are saying that any and all teaching or training you have received from the state should be used to bar emigration unless its paid for, complete idiocy but that won't stop you banging on about it.  How much would you owe the country if you wanted to emigrate?

Unfortunately tis you who is the idiot. Folk who have served a full a full term in a career and have retired, will have repaid the tax-payer through their service. So retirees can go wherever they wish, without any imposition. The fact that we already have a pay back requirement on ALL students doesn't seem to be registering with you; those who serve out their careers in this country, shouldn't imo have to pay anything; the few that leave should; something I'm sure the majority of Uni students, worrying about paying back around £9,000, would be perfectly happy with.

What about students who don't go to University, will you charge them?  You have all the answers , stupid ones but answers all the same.  IMO NOBODY should have to pay to get out of the country.

We don't have a pay back requirement on ALL students though do we? Only people who leave University and go on to get jobs paying above a certain level have to pay anything back. There are many people at Uni who won't actully have to pay anything back.

Yes we know Asp, if and when they earn enough in the big world. If of course they finish up stacking shelves in a S/market they won't earn enough to qualify for a pay back. However, it's a loan with the debt hanging over them, whether they remain in this country or not; one that I'm suggesting can be removed, except for those wishing to take their skills abroad. As I said, don't think many students would object to that.  As for the open door anarchist Brigade, well I suppose sleep walking from one crisis to the next, is all part of their DNA !

Scottish Students studying in Scottish Universities do not pay tuition fees

Scottish Students studying in English Universities do not pay tuition fees

EU Students studying in Scottish Universities do not pay tuition fees

English Students studying in Scottish Universities DO pay tuition fees

All perfectly legal Because of European law, the Scottish government also has to provide free tuition at Scottish universities for students from other EU countries - but not for those from other parts of the UK.

This is because it is possible to discriminate between students from different parts of an individual member state but not not to discriminate against those from other parts of the EU.

The sneaky Scots were even prepared to take the matter to court in the EU if they won independence because they were worried that their universities would be flooded with English students after independence; all technically entitled to free higher education under EU law

Something else that Governments already do - they just withdraw your passport. Assuming of course efficient border controls, which given the numbers tripping off to ISIS may be wishfull thinking !

You're quite the Fascist at heart aren't you Obs.
