Evil Sid
Amazing. Just think of all the time and effort that went into producing that, not to mention the sheer genius to come up with it in the first place. imagine the astonishment of people seeing it at that time and wondering it in fact it was a real boy in a mask only to be shown the mechanics afterwards. If you were to make something identical today I wonder how much time it would take, how long it would take to perfect its movement and how many people would be involved in working on it to do so. Dizzy
Wow, amazing stuff not to mention the fact that it's still in one piece and working after 240 years. I bet it freaked some people out a little when they first saw it though.
observer
Watched a prog about this (or something very similar): the inventor was a Swiss chap, who made clocks for the Spanish King, who was obsessed with them. It "freaked out" the religious hierarchy at the time, who wanted to put the inventor on trial for witchcraft !
