Sometimes my imagination runs away with me and none of the ancient history or mega-bucks or bequests to national institutions, mentioned in the above thread, are actually factual (apart from in my imagination). What is actual and factual is that after my Dad's death I had the priviledge of sorting through his papers where I came across the membership certificate of his Dad (my Grandad- to state the obvious) of the Warrington Branch of "The Ancient Order of Druids". I have googled it and they do still exist as a society but not, apparently, as some sort of Celtic cult but more along the lines of freemasonry for the poor.
