algy
Manor lock. Black bear canal. Spot on! Wireboy, it was part of the Old Quay canal also known as the Mersey and Irwell Navigation and the Runcorn Latchford canal, take your pick!. The boat in the lock was a steam packet more usually used on the Bridgewater canal and sometimes as a pay boat on the Manchester Ship canal, they had a fleet of these at Runcorn. Wireboy
It is all unfortunately filled in now. Manor lock is still there as in you can see the lock walls and bridge remains. I walk the dog down there regularly and it is a shame the canal has been filled in. I am a big fan of British waterways and I would love to see all the old canals in Warrington opened up once again. You could get to most places in Warrington on the Canal and River.
