I can remember being at school and one of the lads called Stephen was wandering along the corridor in a trance. I said 'what's up with you today you've got a face like a yard of tripe' (one of my mums sayings ) He looked at me, burst into tears and said 'John Lennons DEAD'. I refrained from saying 'Oh well not to worry' Don't ask me why but it seems like yesterday and if I shut my eyes it's like I am standing there now. We were 16 years old and we all hung around together but I found it odd that he was 'so into' John Lennon and 'gentle' when we were all into Quo, Meatloaf, Heart doing Karate and Judo and the likes ...
