Obs you forgot that the Anglo Saxons as you call them were immigrants. Most South Americans or latinos as you call them are indigenous to the region, The Spanish went over their and killed and intermingled and gave them their language and religion.

Think Kije; if you started reading the posts rather than just reacting to them; you'd discover that I pointed out that the Europeans displaced the original native Americans, and thus were immigrants; just as the whites in Africa, Australia etc were all immigrants.

My point Ob that you seem to have missed, is the latinos as you called them have always been in the America's. Unlike the Anglo Saxons.

 

And so what if they displace the Anglo Saxons, as you have said the Anglo Saxons replaced those who came before them. Or are you saying its alright for white people to displace but not for people of any other colour, its their lot to be displaced

Latinos are largely the desendents of emigrants from Spain, and in the case of Brazil, from Portugal. The native populations at the time of the Conquisdadores would have been small, and indeed, many were wiped out by the diseases brought by the European immigrants. However, some semblence of an indiginous population has survived in places and is largely identifiable through the class system. But that wouldn't be sufficient to claim that Latinos are generally the original native Americans, any more than the N/Europeans of the US. The concern for some (like the Republican Party) in the US, is that, demographic change will favour a gradual move to the left, and indeed, some authors have speculated that the US (of all countries), will adopt a more socialist model in the future, indeed, some now actually believe Obama to be a socialist, as well as a Muslim!

Only those in the Conservative world believe him to be a Socialist.
