Davy51 Posted March 17, 2017 Report Posted March 17, 2017 ...it will be interesting to see young Gideon juggling all his jobs. A £650k job in the city, 4 days a week. editor of the London Evening Standard 5 mornings & MP for Tatton. Perhaps his constituents will all be sent photographs of their trough grovelling servant & a statue erected in Knutsford. Quote
Geoffrey Settle Posted March 17, 2017 Report Posted March 17, 2017 The BBC reporter has described it as a result of a "Well greased revolving door". His Tatton constituency is being dissolved at the end of term so the poor man has to look to pastures new, after all he lost his last job. Given he has no editorial experience it speaks volumes of the London Standard selection criteria and -.work that MPs have to do from day to day if he can take on 3 jobs at once. What a clever and bright man he is And don't forget the shed load of money from speaking engagements - hundreds of thousands. Has he written any books - now that probably a money spinner. Must be a hard life being an MP. Quote
observer Posted March 17, 2017 Report Posted March 17, 2017 Don't blame George; blame the system that allows it. Many MPs, from all Parties, have had morning jobs, prior to evening attendance at Parliament. The question is, should it be allowed ? Quote
Davy51 Posted March 17, 2017 Author Report Posted March 17, 2017 I got my info wrong....George's £650 k job is 4 days a month ! He still has room for a couple more consultant positions. Quote
asperity Posted March 17, 2017 Report Posted March 17, 2017 Well everyone is always complaining that MP's have no experience of employment outside Parliament..................................................................................... Quote
asperity Posted March 17, 2017 Report Posted March 17, 2017 Actually I do think (which is more than he seems to be able to do) that he should be told, by his boss, to choose between being an MP and being otherwise employed. It would probably benefit the government, and the Tories, that he resign as MP and disappear into obscurity where he will, no doubt, excell. Quote
observer Posted March 18, 2017 Report Posted March 18, 2017 ....... and make lots of money. But perhaps his end game is to use the newspaper as a base for a come back, if and when Theresa's star fades ? Quote
Davy51 Posted March 18, 2017 Author Report Posted March 18, 2017 The BBC were saying there could be a problem with his job as an MP bringing him into contact with matters that news editors are not normally privy to. Quote
Geoffrey Settle Posted March 18, 2017 Report Posted March 18, 2017 Maybe that what gave him the his advantage during the interview - something that the other 29 didn't have - I'm sure he'll find away around him after all his Tatton constituents claim he is smarter then the average bear But the man in the White suit doesn't like the idea at all and we've yet to hear from the Welsh Wizzard.
