Evil Sid
Seems that warington council may be on the verge of offering to loan an online retailer a £42 million bribe er loan, if they build their new distribution centre on the omega site and not manchester airports site. Does this strike anybody as odd considering that they are cutting services all over the place in an effort to save money? Ok, so a potential 2,000 jobs could be created and I suppose that the loan will be paid back with interest (won't it?) but where is that money coming from and what has been "downsized" to make it available? Given the state of the roads quite a few people would ask why the money is not being spent repairing the potholes instead. Still the coincil knows what is best I suppose.
observer
That's £21,000 per "potential" job - will they be reserved for Warringtonians?
grey_man
That's £21,000 per "potential" job - will they be reserved for Warringtonians? And even if it does locate at Manchester Airport, how many Warringtonians will be employed there?
Robbo
So where has all this money come from and why aren't they using it to freeze council tax.?
observer
Just for interest, has that distribution centre on Woolston Grange closed? Haven't seen as many Poles on bikes recently, or maybe they've all bought cars by now!
