Milky
Borris Johnson is not going to stand for PM, WhilE i am pleased Johnson won't be PM it seems extraordinary that the two main characters who stood for the EU exit are not going to stand as leader. observer
It doesn't really matter who, but exactly what they're prepared to do that is relevant. EG: Free movement has to go.
observer
As we now know, Boris was stabbed in the back by his first Liutenant ;Brutus Gove; not a rare occurance in politics. I'd assumed that once the Parties settle down from their current hysterics, we might get a General Election; but it seems the Tories intend to plough on. P J
Seems the removal of free movement and retention of the free market is a bit of a no go . There's a surprise
observer
No surprise at all; neither is the view of the Austrian Finance Minister who believes we won't be leaving the EU, and he's probably right.
Davy51
I thinks what we have seen could be the actions of people who were happy to jump up & down rattling their sabres for Brexit ....i think some of the people left in the leadership battle could actually be bricking it in case they have to grasp this particular nettle. Davy51
There have been suggestions that Britain only needs to repeal the Act of Parliament that took us into Europe without needing to trigger Article 50. Apparently that method would give us a faster Brexit.
observer
Well, let's see what develops; the signs are they'll water things down, and with a pro-EU Parliament, they're likely to block it altogether - so much for the democratic will of the people. Davy51
I think it will be a darker place we find ourselves in if the result is overturned to suit the in crowd. Right wing policies seem to be sprouting across Europe & when the Turks & Balkan states arrive there could be a recipe for disaster with the poorer eastern economies clashing with the wealthier western countries & causing even deeper economic black holes. I just hope the tensions that blew apart Yugoslavia can be contained when the Balkan states arrive.
