observer
Seems in June of last year, illegal immigrants were arriving in the UK at the rate of one every 8 mins; we hear of them coming in, but we rarely hear of them being deported; so presumably there's a net build up. The latest spat in the Commons was over the fate of "kids" from the Calais Camp, and the so-called Dubs Amendment, inviting 3,000 unaccompanied "children" into the UK. The Gov, quite rightly imo, has recognised that this open invite from the bleeding heart liberals, actually encourages more illegal immigration. But some glaring facts are ignored by their myopic compassion - 1) What responsible parent (assuming they have any), would send a kid on such a hazardous journey? 2) Having arrived in Europe, why haven't these illegal immigrants applied for asylum in any of the EU countries they've passed through ? 3) Have these kids been screened to establish their status as refugees, given that many are from non-Syrian countries ? 4) Have the bleeding hearts for one second, thought about the cost implications on cash strapped local authorities, to provide services for them ? Davy51
We are supposed to be part of a bloc of 27 countries with ,we are led to believe, compassion as a mainstay of its reason for existence so why have these children not been offered caring hospitality on their journey through the EU before arriving at our shores ? observer
Think the problem is Dave, that in some countries they have, even in France, where they've been shacked up in Calais for yonks; they are legally entitled to apply for asylum. Problem is: they want to get to the UK, must have heard of the benefits system and the free medical treatment ! Meanwhile, the totally naïve and irresponsible Lib/Lab/SNP and Churches; keep crying for them to come here. Perhaps we should have a register of these bleeding hearts, so that THEY can house and fund the costs of their sentiment ?
Evil Sid
Watching the news the other day about the scrapping of the dubs amendment, load of protesters out side with the usual placards and chants. I wondered afterwards if they were told that they would have three of the children housed with them and would be totally responsible for those children and their actions and they were also told that they would get no help towards their upkeep apart from what is usually given to UK nationals (hesitate to use british/english in case I upset an ethnic minority), would they be as keen. I also wondered what would happen to them in a few years time when they stop being children and become adults, will they be shipped off back to their birth country or to France? Davy51
Access to full benefits probably Sid.
observer
Is that what supposed to happen SID ? I thought the idea was, that they get educated here (incl cost of interpreters), social services involvement, free benefits etc; and after 5 years apply for citizenship. Once a citizen, they can then apply to bring Mum and Dad and the rest of the family over. We also have to ask - are they really children? Remember the group from Calais, hid behind screens, so the public couldn't tell that they were actually young men of military age, who'd lied about their age. That's how stupid they know we are. observer
... and the latest, we have to thank the bleeding heart luvvies for : a Bulgarian thug, has been sentenced to 21years for beating up his pregnant girlfried, to the point she is now in a vegative state. So, 21years (probably less) at tax-payer's expense, plus the NHS costs for the girl friend. How daft does it have to get ? .
Evil Sid
just rereading the post in this topic and something struck me. Seems in June of last year, illegal immigrants were arriving in the UK at the rate of one every 8 mins; If they are illegal immigrants, who usually sneak in under the radar (or under trucks),how do they know it was only that figure and not say one every thirty seconds or one every three hours or twelve hours depending on the tides. HM gov admits that it does not know how many are coming in and most figures are finger in the air estimates.
observer
Fair point Sid; which suggests that these are the one's that have been caught. But, having watched a CH5 prog on how the Police deal with them at the M6 services, they don't appear to arrest or detain them.
observer
........ and they're still coming: over 3,000 rescued last week and taken to Italy. Will they be re-patriated or will they claim asylum supported by the HR lawyers, or will they just melt in to the crowd and head for Calais ? observer
10,000 landed in Italy last month, causing the Italian PM to write to the EU Mandarins, telling them that if they don't accept their share, Italy will close it's ports to them. These migrants, in search of "a better life" are being picked up close to the Libyan coast by these so-called "rescuers" then taken safely to Europe. So what do they expect ?
