Well it appears that a certain Notts county football club is using the lamps siezed in cannabis farm raids to make their grass grow in the winter.

Normally the lamps are crushed but in collaboration with the police and students from the local university, the lamps are being converted to help the grass grow. They are put into wheeled rigs that can be placed over the pitch and teh heat and light light simulates a warmer time of year thus encouraging the grass to grow. the normal cost of the rigs to buy commercially are around ten to fifteen thousand and the "home made" rigs cost considerably less. The club has mad a donation to to a local police charity by way of a thank you.

So it seems some good has come out of it after all.
