observer
Seems we need to save up for a rise in energy bills in 2015, as our energy capacity could be so low, were liable for blackouts and the importation of gas from foreign sources. Meanwhile, our politicians faff about over green energy and close coal powered power stations in response to EU commitments. Has incompetance totally taken over our Governance? asperity
To call it incompetence is being overly generous. We should have started building nuclear power stations years ago, instead of putting up all those useless windmills. We may just be saved if fracking is started soon enough and more gas powered stations built.
Lt Kije
Completely agree with Asp, we should have been building nuclear power stations years ago.
observer
I would take a slightly different tack - we should have been increasing our national energy capacity, from all sources (except nuclear), years ago: AND should have embarked on a demand reduction programme, by free insulation of homes and cutting down the Blackpool illuminations we call street lighting etc.
Lt Kije
It is easy to blame the EU, but the government has known for years about the coal fired power stations, but it has not invested and dragged its feet.
