Dizzy
Do any of you more knowleagable people know anything about the WW2 Chindits (special forces) in Burma WW2 and how I can find out who was enlisted etc etc Apparently my grandfather was in the Chindits but I have no idea how to confirm it and as hard as I search I can find nothing other than details of who/what the Chindits were. We have no records other than his name and date of birth and that's about it
inky pete
Try contacting these people:- http://www.chindits.info/COCA/Main.htm The Chindits Old Comrades Association will probably have access to the old army records of the soldiers who served. observer
Set up by a chap named Wyngate(?), for operations deep behind Japanese lines in Burma, involving landing by glider and parachute. No quarter given or expected, sick or wounded would be left behind with a loaded pistol.
