The Remembrance Prayer

I hope this is not offensive to anyone but I was told this a few days ago by an elderly chap who had served in WW2.

He said 'thankfully god brought me back home but there are many more still out there who wont be as lucky as me' ... his following words also really stuck in my mind :

'When a soldier goes to heaven

To St. Peter he will tell

just another soldier reporting sir

as I've served my time in hell'

So tomorrow I will once again wear my poppy with pride and salute and remember all those who have sadly lost their lives and will salute and remember all those who are still out there and who's lives will hopefully be spared
