observer
A paranoid schizaphrenic was sent to Rampton (for life), for murdering a girl with a hammer. However, having shown no signs of his illness, he was let out, no doubt for care in the community. Alas, he went on to kill again. Why don't the powers that be accept that they have no cure for some mental problems, and relying on medication for control is putting the rest of us at risk - so just lock them up and throw away the key. PS. Seems London Taxi drivers are up in arms, as a paranoid-schizaphrenic is being taken on as a driver - errm, think I'll take a bus. Evil Sid
back to bedlam then it is rumoured that inmates of bedlam were let out under license to beg on the streets (unconfirmed) so little seems to have changed apart from the treatment. Lt Kije
Many years ago I worked a Prestwich Hospital, until care in the community came in, and the Tories thought everyone would be better off if we shut the big mental hospitals
observer
I think their motivation was to sell Gov assets and gather some cash in; using the flimsy advice of some mental care professionals, that "care in the community" would be cheaper.
