observer
(ww news) The Council are considering entering into partnership with the private sector, in order to provide an up-graded crematorium service, which will probably put an additional ?100 on already expensive funeral bills. So, they get the initial private investment, but then lumber us with additional bills thereafter to provide profits for the private company. Errm, why not cut out the profit element; borrow the ?1million, make a charge by all means to pay back the loan and for running costs; but on a non-profit making basis? While we're on the subject of disposing of dead bodies; why not eco-friendly funerals? Bury the deceased in a bio-degradable box, plant a tree over it, thus providing folk with memorial gardens, increased open space; and increased numbers of trees to combat CO2? asperity
Not enough space for burying the dead Obs. Thats why we have crematoria.
observer
Loads of parks; to plant bodies with a tree on top! Problem is, they'd probably be turned into shrines. Errm, maybe Viking Funerals on the Mersey?!
