observer
Presumably the line of our Royal Family succession is based on the next nearest male heir? EG: When they invited George I over, it seems they skipped over about twenty odd prior claimants because they were Catholics. Which poses the question, is their someone out there, with a stonger claim to the crown than Liz II ?
Legion
well I'll throw my hat in the ring. but then again, theres not many people in the contry that dont have some claim to the throne.
Mary
Ahh you must be referring to that old rule - no papists. It is rearing its head yet again - if Princess Anne's son marries the woman he wants to he will no longer be in line for the thrown either - as she was baptized Catholic. observer
Actually, they did a TV prog on this: must have taken oodles of research, but they traced the most direct line from Alfred the Great to a farmer in Australia!
Man in Black
I believe the 16th in line to the throne from the line of James I is also currently resident in Scotland and favoured there as the true King :angelwings:
