The Raven Community Inn

Not sure if this’d be quite classed as local, but the other day I called in at the Raven Inn at Glazebrook for a McMillan coffee morning. It’s probably more than twenty odd years since I last called in there, but I’ve been following with interest the reports on Worldwide of the campaign by locals to save the place.

The volunteers there have done an excellent job of transforming a near derelict building into a really nice community country style pub. Inside and out, everything looks perfect, and while most of the interior is probably new, they’ve managed to make it look like it’s been that way forever.  

A good selection of drinks at the bar, three hand pumps for guest beers and food served each day (except on Tuesdays). Didn’t get to see a menu but given it’s not run by any brewery chain; I’d imagine it might be a more traditional homecooked fayre.
