Hull FC v Warrington 18.04.21

Two sides cancelled each other out at the KCOM Stadium. A first half penalty each gave a half time score of 2-2, but in the second Hull took the lead with a converted try following the Wires defence being too easily breached in the Hull half. However Wire equalised within minutes, Chris Hill going over between the posts and Ratchford putting over the conversion. Hull went back into the lead scoring a second try in the corner which was again converted but a drop goal attempt to make sure of the points by Hull was missed. In the last minute, when it looked like Hull had the points in the bag, Jake Mamo slipped through the Hull defensive line to score a second Wire try which was converted by Widdop. So to 5 minutes each way of extra time for either side to try and break the deadlock, but both sides missed 2 drop goal attempts in each period leaving the final score at an unusual 14-14 draw.

Yes a match full of commitment and desire but lacking in creativity from either side to be honest.  We had enough possession in their half to have won the game but in the end a draw was a fair result.  I’m not a big fan of the “Golden Point” concept and would much rather the match end after 80 minutes like it used to.

I'll agree with that Ww, in the end those two 5 minute periods were pointless in more ways than one. It's an American idea that there "must be a winner" when actually a draw yesterday was a reflection of the game over 80 minutes. Save the Golden Point for cup games where a winner has to be found so the tournament can continue.
