I like seeing technology coming up with something useful rather than gimmicky, so I was interested to see a robotic device has been developed to clean and inspect hire cars once they’ve been used. It’s always a worry with hire cars that you end up with a damage claim for something that might have already been there, but you hadn’t noticed in the rush to get moving.

There’s very often slight marks and stone chips when you pick a car up and the best advice has always to make video record before driving off. The new robot devices use cameras to scan both inside and outside to detect and record any significant change so we’re not reliant on the opinion of some unscrupulous hirer. As an added benefit, these robots also disinfect the entire vehicle as they go about their task.

All interesting stuff but I’d still feel happier to get the mobile out and make my own record just to be sure.
