Bazj
or what about the £12million sent from Downing Street to Calais to help to fund the fight against illegal immigrants crossing the channel? this may help to explain things a little better! http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-London/2014/10/16/Frontline-Calais-UKIP-MEP-Visits-Camps
observer
Extreme situations require an extreme response: unfortunately with the straight jacket of the EU and ECHR; we're powerless to get control of the situation.

observer
So, according to you, there isn't a problem in Calais?
Bazj
Breitbart An American right wing opinion blog and your point is what exactly? They are reporting what was said when a UK MEP talked to the Mayor of Calais. If it happened and the reporting is correct; it is a little worrying don't you think? Did you also see in the news this week that the Police in Calais had blocked roads in protest at the massive increase in numbers of the immigrants desperate to get over here? If the Police are protesting, there must be one hell of a problem! Stick your head back in the sand Kije....

P J
I've had a look through the google returns and can't find anything, I am sure the Daily Mail would have led with this if it was true though. It is from a very dodgy source.
Lt Kije
Yes odd that no UK media has picked up on it, and even UKIP and the NF ect haven't ether
observer
The Mayor of Calais is blaming the UK Government for the migrant mess - saying our benefits system is far too generous to immigrants, and she may have a point, despite IDS's attempts to cut benefits to indigenous claimants. But, why can't the French just round up these migrants and put them on the next flight home?
observer
..... and more salt in the wound: seems we still have a backlog of asylum applications (30,000), going back to 2007; the 50,000 who have been refused asylum, have disappeared off the radar and into the UK population - what a mess.
