What pub stood -

Recommended Posts

What was the name of the public house that stood roughly on the plot of ground before the Causeway hotel was built on it?

Not the Black Lion Wolfie, that was further up the Causway close to Greenall's brewery near Gainsborough road.

The Black Lion is nearest to the camera.

Wilderspool looked nice in those days Agly.

As for the pub ... well I know some of the ones that were along there but no idea which one was on the same plot of land as the Causeway Hotel without resorting to cheating so I'm not joining in  8)

I may be wrong but I don't think you will find out by Googling Dizz as I had never heard of it before reading the new Latchford History book on the Causeway!.

Yes (if I cheated) ... cos I've got the same book Algy just mentioned.  I'm not sure where it is though as I bought it last summer but I know the answer will be in it :P
