Latest offer from Basher - to place his chemical stockpile under international control. Which would seem to have pulled the rug from under Obama's plans?

No wonder the US, indeed world public, are confused with Obama's position: he's ranting on about 1,400 deaths caused by a chemical attack; 100s of thousands of Syrian civilians have been killed or maimed by conventional weapons to date; and his proposed shock and awe strike will just add to the total.
