observer
Anyone remember when they used to visit residential areas and play carols in the street, and come round with a collection tin?
Paul Kennedy
Certainly do, and very good they were as well. Tend to stay in shopping centres now. They also run the centre for homeless men across from the Cockhedge, and do an excellent job.
observer
Is it too dangerous to play in the street nowadays?
Jerry
My father grew up poor in a large rural family in Illinois. He always considered the Salvation Army as Saints and put money whenever he saw a kettle. I've done the same in his memory. But this year I received a letter from the local army suggesting I mail a check and save them the kettle ringers. I wonder how it turned out? Geoffrey Settle
Maybe they have found smarter ways of raising funds? Good luck to them and they do brighten up the Town centre at Christmas and other times of the year.
