observer
Interesting TV series with Peter and Dan Snow; looking at various battles. What struck me about the battle of Stalingrad, is that it claimed more Russian lives than the combined losses of both the British and Americans throughout the whole of WW2 - sort of puts things into persective. tonymaillman
Good point Obs .... it's quite sobering when you start to look at the statistics of a lot of conflicts. It's not only the ones killed in the actual fighting but also the numbers of 'non-combatants' who lose their lives that adds up As the old saying goes ... 'There are NO winners in any war'.
