observer Posted April 18, 2008 Report Share Posted April 18, 2008 Deprivation is not just a case of throwing money into an area, it's about building "a community identity", fostering cohesion and encouraging self help and sustainability. We now have a major social problem of an under-class of inarticulate, uneducated, dysfunctional and feckless families (perhaps packs is a better term); most are benefit dependent and prone to drink or drug use. It's a cultural disease that's being passed from each generation, with no Government ideas or powers (due to the Yuman Rights laws) to intercede and break the cycle.
