Jerry
I had this Somerset Maugham book in my library as a child, gift of an aunt. I didn't understand it. Thanks to Edward Norton and Naomi Watts for bringing it to the wide exotic screen with authentic Chinese scenery. In the story they are English - and their accents seem to me to be standard Brit -- non locale specific. I have new respect for Norton and Watts -- seems they co-produced it as well. Jerry
I forgot to mention there is a cameo in this film by Dame Emma Peel -- I mean Diana Rigg -- as a Mother Superior of course. She plays those so well. It started when she was on the stage in Abelard and Heloise.
