observer Posted August 15, 2010 Report Share Posted August 15, 2010 Victory over Japan in August 1945 - following a war that started in December 1941, with the infamous attack on Pearl Harbour. But the initial Japanes expansion engulfed most of the Far East, and included the embarrasing surrender of Singapore by 50,000 British soldiers to 30,000 Japs. The tide of Japanese expansion was finally blocked at the battles of Midway, Guadalcanal, Port Moresby, Imphal and Kohima.
