Major Barbara G.B. Shaw 1941 film

This seems to be a GBS month on our classic film cable station. The movie version of his play is wonderful and other superlatives, but there are extra little touches that resonated with me - for example Deborah Kerr -- the very young version of the older woman I loved all my life. And Robert Newton (I mistook him for Leo Genn) goes into a pub and says, "draw me a beer and put some gin in it." Huh? Over a hundred years ago -- something on the order of what we call a boilermaker, but with gin rather than whiskey. I'm innocent of the lore -- drinking only occasional scotch or tequila margaritas. Beer and gin sounds like the antithesis of anything I'd want to taste.
