This could go under History, Sports or Daftest Films, but --- in 2006 there was a movie sci fi where a European soccer player (Holland or Belgium) goes into a physical science laboratory to repair something in the sport, and ends up in The Childrens Crusade. At the risk of his life he warns the children that the ships coming toward shore in Italy are slavers, who will sell them in Africa, not take them to Jerusalem. I'm a bit vague on the Crusades but I remember theirs was perhaps the most tragic. I'll go study up on it now. I only saw the last half on cable TV. Oh, maybe I should mention Emily Watson is in it.
