observer Posted March 7, 2010 Report Share Posted March 7, 2010 An Oliver Stone film - apparently a flop at the box office - but I managed all 3 hours of it on TV: even at 3 hours it skated over some of his earlier battles and the seige of Sidon; gave a rather confusing picture of the Guagemela battle, and so to the battle of Hydaspes - EG: the Macedonian Pike Phalanx required unimpeded ground for it's optimum operation, the film portrayed the battle in jungle terrain, which would have compromised totally the successfull application of the phalanx tactic - have to wonder who advises these film makers at times?
