The Loved One - Evelyn Waugh/Tony Richardson in 1965

Cable TV treated us to a reprise of British satire skewering Los Angeles. Some observations: Has there ever been an American actor who can fake a British accent over the course of an entire film? Robert Morse didn't even try. Great to see 60s automobiles when style was in vogue. Was John Gielgud based on David Hockney? Was Robert Morley REALLY typecast as prime ministers and butlers? I can't remember a single instance. Rare glimpse of Liberace as surprise among hookers and party girls delivered in caskets for the U.S. Air Force space team recruited for Resurrection Now! (to clear the valuable land for redevelopment) MGM embalmed this film deliberately IMHO.
