Battlefields?

Many sites of historical battles have been lost through modern development, certainly in the UK. But what prompted this post, was the plight of a US Civil War battlefield in Virginia (known as the "wilderness"); where Walmart have been given permission to build a super-store. What was amusing, was one of the locals claiming "it would be good for tourism" - errm, methinks tourists would be making the pilgrimage to view the battlefield rather than a Walmart?! Seems jobs come before history and heritage everytime.
