The Linnets have subsequently announced the appointment of former Vauxhall Motors manager Andy Mutch (right) as their new first-team manager. Burscough chairman Chris Lloyd released the following statement: "Manager Joey Dunn (pictured above) has been relieved of his duties at Burscough FC with immediate effect. "The chairman would like to thank Joey for his endeavours on behalf of Burscough Football Club, in what have been difficult circumstances. "The club would like to wish Joey all the best for the future. "Chairman Chris Lloyd and Burscough Football Club would also like to make an additional announcement that Andy Mutch has taken up the role of first-team manager. "Andy has a wealth of football experience having played for several Football League teams, most notably, Wolverhampton Wanderers where his goalscoring exploits alongside Steve Bull earned him international recognition as well as 'cult status' amongst the fans. "Since finishing his playing career Andy Mutch has gained a growing reputation as a coach and Burscough FC are delighted to provide Andy with a further platform to show case those skills. "We hope the supporters will join the football club in wishing Andy well in his new position. "Further statements will be made in the coming days."
