Jerry Posted July 20, 2008 Report Share Posted July 20, 2008 Clark Gable and Rosalind Russell were in Hong Kong in May 1941 (it was occupied by Japanese soldiers in Dec. 1941). In the film Gable is mascarading as a British officer, and gets frog marched into a rescue operation outside of Hong Kong's border. He ends up lobbing four grenades at Japanese machine gun nests during the rescue, winning the Victoria Cross, and all before Pearl Harbor got our boys into the fight. Wow! What a story!
