Jerry
Last month there was an annual gigantic book fair at UCLA on their huge campus, featuring all the big name writers hawking best sellers as well as obscure writers and publishers seeking publicity. Imagine my surprise when I read about the Book Fair in Hay -- a little out of the way place between England and Wales. A town with 31 bookshops, and a regular festival with tents over the exhibits during extreme rain -- with no luxury accommodations - a veritable democratic assembly of authors and readers. The article writer suggests it could only happen in Britain.
