harry hayes
All those germs never did us any harm. We used to fish coins; marbles; and the like from down grids. Hay days
Nick Tessla
Yes twaz the robin which sang on the back of a farthing. I loved the robin on the farthing. I think it was the only coin with a bird on it. All the coins in my pocket have some old bird wearing a crown on them

asperity
It was a spoof advert on "World of Beachcomber" on BBC. Spike Milligan was one of the stars of this comedy which was inspired by the long running newspaper column.
Rockcutting
The silver content of pre 1920 uk coins was 92.5%. Between 1920 and 1947 it was 50% after 1947 it was 0%. I have a small bag of silver coins with a face value of a few quid but a scrap value of nearly £100. Dizzy could be sitting on a small fortune! Dizzy
If only RC and sadly they aren't mine either as they are my dads. Damn ! They are tiny though so wont weigh much but might cover the cost of a few golf balls if he ever did scrap them from what you say.
