sadako
er...my essays and other peoples. ...I sometimes take the time to proof read my posts (not often though)
Mary
Yes Tony, all the time. At school I have to proof read student rough draft essay's. As a student, I have done it for myself and others for years. For a living, no- but I have always thought I would enjoy doing it for a living. tonymaillman
That's what I'm referring to Mary .......... for publishers etc .... I know a lot of people don't check what they write nowadays, which is why we see such ridiculous levels of spelling and grammar.
ANDYK
Sadako, you are doing some proof reading for me, at least i hope you are
Mary
Is there a job going somewhere Tony? Let me know - I would love to do that for a living - I know that may sound weird to some but I like it. Also it is usually something you can do at home or online I have been told. Geoff Settle
I'm currently in between college assignments so I can help, what was the subject again?
tonymaillman
Geoff ........ are you being serious ??
Paul Kennedy
As I understand it, but I might be wrong, proof reading is a matter of checking what is actually written, rather than making suggestions as to how the text can be improved, and that for a lot of people is very difficult to do as most people would want to comment and make changes. tonymaillman
My point exactly Paul, spelling and grammar, which is why I posted the previous reply
Mort
a mate of mine was a proof reader or as he liked to put it, a 'corrector of the press' for the North West Auto Trader. We do it all the time at work (printers)
sadako
It will be about 13,000 words Mary and it is on the representation of violence in selected film and theatre performances. I just wanted to make sure that all the grammer and spelling was correct and whether the subject was easily understood. There are about 5 or 6 chapters, or there will be when it is complete....its kind of like a book. If people are willing to look at it then that would be great! thanks to everyone who offered. Paul Kennedy
Might it not be safer to use WORD spelling and grammar checker?
Mary
I figured it would be book like Sadako - I have written a couple of dissertations myself.
Mary
Of course and she probably will, but sometimes how a sentence is constructed can be changed to make a better meaning Paul.
Paul Kennedy
That is true Mary, but then I think that is going beyond proof reading as I said in one of my earlier posts.
