algy Posted March 7, 2013 Author Report Share Posted March 7, 2013 July 1969 the Americans decided they needed to carry out remedial work on their side of the falls to remove a large amount of rock debris resulting from a rock fall and so the USArmy engineers constructed a temporary dam of bolders thus diverting the river over the larger but less spectacular Horseshoe Falls.
