Don't You!, what I do think is that a highly trained nurse's skills are far too valuable to waste her time answering external telephone calls. I don't know what the set-up is in the hospital in question but usually if you need info about a patient 'out of hours' you are given the number of the ward. It is quite possible that a phone was ringing at a reception desk and the unfortunate nurse was nearest to it. Note, I said 'possible'. Why are you trying to blame NHS cuts?
