silverlady54
Make sure you all notice the news article about the parking charges in Lymm and Stockton Heath as they are changing from today. You will now only have 1 hour of free parking so don't get caught out! I feel sorry for people living on nearby roads and for the local retailers, as this may stop people using the villages to shop. grey_man
The important thing to note is that these car parks already make a surplus while parking for council staff accounts for over £100,000 of the parking deficit. Obviously councillors think it's worthwhile putting the squeeze on local businesses and local people who contribute more than they cost already as a way of subsidising benefits for council employees. Peter T
Perhaps people will vote with their feet and then what will the council do?
skittles
Perhaps people will vote with their feet and then what will the council do? Charge more parking and rates to make up for the lost revenue.
grey_man
Perhaps people will vote with their feet and then what will the council do? What would obviously be needed is to put a bid in for a £50,000 grant in competition with 97 other High Streets and then put up a banner above one of the boarded up shops telling people how great Stockton Heath is. That's what has worked in Bridge Street obviously.
Sha
Some information you might be interested in. Shop and hospital car parks can't fine you. Different rules apply to council car parks, but if a private company gives you a ticket, it's not a fine, just an invoice for alleged breach of contract. If you think it's unfair, write to reject it.
