Monumental Inscriptions St Elphins?

Have you asked the Church? Only reason I ask is that I could never find any online records for St Thomas' Church (Stockton Heath) and a lot of gravestones are hard to read now and it was only by chance when I'd been wandering around the church yard one day that I found out they actually had copies of disks for sale with ALL the old church records on.

Inscription records were compiled by local Family History societies years ago and I should have known that as my mum used to help do it so I would have thought that they would have given each church a copy along with depositing or publishing them somewhere.

St Elphins is on this site although they charge a small fee to retrieve all records of a Surname.

and the Manchester & Lancashire Family History Society have these

RMI L 0941 - WARRINGTON PARISH CHURCH OF ST ELPHIN: SCHEDULE OF TOMBSTONES WITH INDEX. (PRINT)

RMI L 0942 - WARRINGTON PARISH CHURCH MEMORIALS (MONUMENTAL INSCRIPTIONS) (PRINT)

Thanks Dizzy, that's useful.

I was hoping there might be an old list from years ago kicking around somewhere, especially as the St Elphin's headstone have been moved about over the years. I'll try contacting the church. I did see those MLFHS records online but they seem to be in the library rather than the shop. I may contact them and see how to get access to them.

If all else fails Tracey let me know and I'll be happy to go to the library and have a look through the book for you.

I might find some of mine in it too as some lived around that way. I've not done anymore on my tree as I'm still stuck.

I might start again from scratch as I fear I've got some kids with the wrong parents and siblings having based a lot on cencus records :unsure:

Yes it was Reader. The church is usually open every morning for coffee and you can just pop in BUT they are completely closed from 20th August to 7 Sept due to roof repairs.

Just found this on their website which shows what the disc contains and who to contact etc.
