asperity
Barclays Bank is looking to recruit a new Chairman and a new Chief Executive from outside the organisation. Perhaps one or more of the banking experts on here could apply for the posts. The salaries they would be looking for (just above minimum wage?) should make them attractive prospects for the bank.
Lt Kije
Obs would not make a good banker
asperity
What is the definition of a good banker? Now is the opportunity for all you experts to show us all how its done! Don't be shy
fugtifino
Don't you be shy, aspers. Â Name and shame the WWW professed banking experts now! Â So we can all point and laugh at them. Â NB: George Osborne does not post here, as far as I'm aware.

observer
.... and who's "claimed" to be "an expert"?
asperity
I didn't say anyone had "claimed" to be an expert Obs, but plenty of people have pontificated on here about how banking should be run as you well know
observer
Merely based on what we've been told by "the experts" - but it doesn't require an expert to realise that our high street banks should be seperated from any involvement in the investment (gambling) side; that they were allowed to get "too big to fail"; and that exec pay and bonuses had reached obscene levels. Question is, will Government actually do anything to change things?
asperity
So when are you going to apply for one of the posts Obs? And how much will you want to be paid?
observer
Asp, I wouldn't dare tell you how to sail your boat; but I might have an opinion on it's destination!
asperity
So if your opinion was that my ship should take its cargo to Rotterdam instead of Lerwick, then it's a valid opinion? Based on what?
observer
You don't decide where you go Skipper; the Company decides; but my analogy refers to not telling Bankers how to steer the ship, but providing them with a moral compass!
asperity
Sounds like a cop out to me <_<
observer
Nope, sounds like a requirement to employ trained professionals in all our industries; but to contain their actions within a moral framework, in the interests of the Nation and it's people.
