Tracey Bennett
Does anyone know about this? I read in the Who do you think you are? Magazine that the Lancs parish records were being published online by ancestry today. Having had a quick look, it seems to be exactly the same as it always was, ie some transcripts but no original documents to view.

Can't see the point in it Trace, unless they intend to remove the free site sometime, it's certainly still there at the moment!.
Tracey Bennett
Well, mainly because the search facility will be much easier, being able to search across churches will be much quicker, very handy when you don't know which church your ancestors used. Plus the free site isn't complete, St Elphin's only goes up to about 1837ish and I think St Paul's only has about 7 marriages or something. There are a few records I'm chasing which aren't on the there and I don't know if it's because they're missing from the records themselves or haven't been transcribed/uploaded. Tracey Bennett
Thanks Artie. I have used that site plus I have ancestry and find my past memberships so accessing the national bmd registers isn't a problem. I find Parish records more useful, especially if you can see the original documents, because then you've got all the information instantly rather than sending off for certificates etc. If I can get fully complete, fully searchable Lancashire Parish Records I'll be very happy indeed! Dizzy
Tracey... Lancs Parish Records have now appeared (you probably got the email today too though if you are a member ) http://www.ancestry.co.uk/cs/uk/parish
Tracey Bennett
Yes I got the e-mail but Warrington records don't seem to be on there, or at least the original documents aren't. Hey ho, I'll keep looking. I'm waiting for the Guardian to appear on British Newspaper Archive to!
