Common sense Government?

Asking the Universities to run the GCSEs would appear to be a common sense idea, so why are some of the Teachers bleating? :unsure:

Because that's what a lot of them have been "trained " to do.

The plan is to give universities a say in A Level curriculums and marking standards - since everyone now gets an "A" just for turning up to the exam even if they can barely spell their own name, and the universities then have to teach them all the stuff they should already know before they can start them on the degree level material.

 

Teachers don't like it because harder subject matter and higher standards will show up their own lack of understanding of what they are being paid to teach.

Don't disagree inky, but the same could be said of University Degrees.
