Define Britishness

Never worn such sandals - sandals usually accompany the toga worn by the liberal luvvies, with a beard and long hair. As for "Britishness", the only consistent historical trait that springs to mind is drunkeness, which we can trace back from the 14thC to the present. There used to be a capacity for stoicism and understatement (stiff upper lip), but that seems to have been lossed to a generation of hugging and crying, selfish brats. There's also a tendency for ignorance to be camouflaged by humour!
