algy
What is your favourite holiday destination and why, do you enjoy a relaxing time by the beach, an adventure holiday, scenic country holiday or sports such as skiing etc., or would do spend time simply chilling out at home?. asperity
Home is where I spend my holidays. After 9 or 10 weeks away it's nice to be able to relax in familiar surroundings.
Wireboy
Yes. Same here. After working away, sometimes for months I like to come home and relax. Coming home feels like a holiday sometimes.
Rex Mac
To date I think my favourite place is Kefalonia. The scenery is fantastic, snorkelling is excellent, the local food is brilliant and the local people are incredibly welcoming and always happy to share some time with you. Â I don't have any photgraphs uploaded to share but take a quick search for Mellisani Lake and Myrtos Beach if you find a moment.

Bazj
Driving through France to spend time on the Riviera... Nice is nice, Monaco is a wonderful place to drive to and around and the drive back means the holiday isn't over after a quick 2 hour flight. Â Going by boat and taking the car means you aren't treated like a terrorist by airport security plus the less luggage you take, the more booze you can fit in on the way back! asperity
Stay at home. There are plenty of ruins in Warrington, specially Saturday night in Bridge Street
Lt Kije
Good point Asp  I don't blame you for staying at home when you spend so much time away, I do not like to drive when on holiday as I spend so much time in a car getting to different sites.  When you are away do you ever get much time so see any sites when you are in port?, I bet your passport has extra pages for the stamps

algy
Up to 1996 Finland was always our favourite destination, beautiful country, lovely blue lakes, clinically clean hotels, clean air and nice people and albeit a short summer it can be very hot, up till the fall of the Berlin Wall it was brilliant, about two years after that the border controls were significantly relaxed with Russia and the Ruskies started going to Finland and everything seemed to go down hill, in the hotel restaurants their manners were despicable they were loutish to the extreme. I am not saying all Russians are like that but the ones I came into contact with were. We tend to use our son's apartment near Mercia in southern Spain but due to the high temperatures in summer we go in late May or mid September, very enjoyable too. asperity
Unfortunately we don't go anywhere very exotic, but the Scottish Islands, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man are okay for a walk and a chance to see somewhere picturesque (and a LOT of sheep  )
Lt Kije
The scottish Islands are great Asp, especially if you have the weather, and you get see them from a vantage point that most people won't , I have not been to the channel islands but I would like to go, As you go to the Scottish Islands can I take it you have a malt collection
Bazj
Algy, I can concur that the Russians are a bunch of ignorant pigs when they are on holiday.... When we were in Egypt two years ago, there were loads of them there and every man jack of them were detested by the waiters and hotel staff.... observer
Baz, I had the same experience in Sharm - they (the Russians) tend to be rather proletarian!
Camper
Puerto del Carmen In Lanzarote. Fab place, not quite Tenerife or Blackpool but plenty going on.
Camper
Should have added 'I don't want Tenerife or Blackpool'. But it is lively enough!
