Wireboy
Winwick street. Bay horse inn?
Wireboy
Changed my mind and going to have another guess. That looks like the other end end of Buttermarket Street to the photo you posted a few days ago. I'm going to say Market gate looking down Buttermarket Street. Looking towards that natural curve at the bottom where Leigh printers was. I won't take any other shots if this is wrong. I promise.
algy
Correct wireboy, now name the pub on the left by the hanging lamp?, I presume like me you are a Warrington lad, so shouldn't be too difficult!. The natural curve at the bottom of the street would have been the junction with Scotland Road where the new Britannia would eventually have been built. Wireboy
Pelican Inn. Yes I am a Warrington lad. Didn't have a clue about your last couple of photo's though. Keep the Buttermarket Street ones coming Algy. They are the only one's I get right.

Wireboy
Great picture. Is that the same building as now? If it is it has changed a lot. Wasn't the Pelican Inn a favourite hang out for the GI's from RAF Burtonwood?
